CBD Compliance and Safety

If you’ve used Nature’s Ultra CBD products before, you know how beneficial they can be. But, even with your amazing results, you may be asked to talk about it carefully. Why is that? If a product has worked for you and produced results, why can’t you say that? Because CBD is watched by the FDA, certain claims might not be allowed. Not only that, but not every CBD oil is made the same. Today we’ll be discussing CBD compliance and safety and why it’s so important.

FDA Guidelines

When it comes to the FDA, there are several different categories for things we use or consume, such as drugs, food, cosmetics, health supplements, etc. Each category determines how you can use and talk about each product. In the past, CBD was considered a dietary supplement, but has now been approved to be tested as a drug. This means that, when talking about CBD, companies need to use language that would match that category. You wouldn’t suggest that someone consume ibuprofen like a food, after all!

That being said, it’s important to note that, “To date, FDA has not approved a marketing application for cannabis for the treatment of any disease or condition and thus has not determined that cannabis is safe and effective for any particular disease or condition,” according to the FDA’s website about CBD.

But, just because the FDA hasn’t approved a marketing application for CBD, doesn’t mean that it doesn’t work or shouldn’t be used. Within that same webpage, they state, “the agency has, however, approved one cannabis-derived and three cannabis-related drug products.” This is great news! Not only is the world becoming more open to the idea of CBD products, they’re also working to ensure that manufacturers are being safe and creating the best product possible.

CBD should continue to be used and sold, as long as it is done under the right pretense. At Nature’s Ultra, we follow strict CBD compliance and encourage you to do so when talking about it. But, how do you know what is and isn’t compliant?

CBD Compliance

While CBD compliance can, at times, feel restricting, it’s important to follow in order to ensure the safety of the company, its members, and its customers. The first thing to remember when talking about CBD is to never claim that it will cure, prevent, or treat any ailment or disease. Making any claim outside of supporting regular health isn’t allowed. Let’s look at some examples

“The Calm CBD Roll On from Nature’s Ultra cured my anxiety and depression.”

This sentence is a great example of a non-compliant way to share CBD and Nature’s Ultra products. Because anxiety and depression, while normal, aren’t considered a standard level of health, claiming that CBD has cured either is not allowed. Instead, try something like:

“The Calm CBD Roll On from Nature’s Ultra has a soothing scent that helps me relax after a long, stressful day.”

Because this sentence is not claiming to cure or prevent any disease, illness, or ailment, it’s a perfect way to talk about CBD and Nature’s Ultra products. Stressful days are something we can all relate to and isn’t considered out of the ordinary. That makes this sentence a safe way to talk about our products.

While it may be hard to utilize compliant language, it’s important to put into practice. Making claims such as the first example put the company at risk, while also projecting an inaccurate image of our products to potential customers. In the long run, compliant language is much safer, easier, and better, even if it takes some getting used to.

Consumer Safety

Because there aren’t many CBD products that have been approved by the FDA, it’s important that you do your own research to make sure that the products you are going to use are safe. The FDA recently released a study showing that out of 150 CBD products on the market, half of them did not contain the amount of CBD listed on the label. That’s why it’s so important to make sure that you know what you’re using! It makes no sense to pay extra for an ingredient, when you aren’t even getting the full amount promised. Don’t let companies trick you into buying just a name.

Before trying something new, make sure to thoroughly research your company. Do you agree with their business practices? Where do they get the hemp to make their CBD oil? Have they been proven to contain the amount of CBD that they claim to? Check their website, reviews, and even call their customer service if you have to. It’s important that you know exactly what you’re putting on your body before you do it!

Nature’s Ultra is dedicated to making CBD products that are affordable, safe, and the best quality possible. That’s why we have our own hemp farm that uses modern and smart practices. We also ensure that the packaging we give you your CBD oil in is the best possible and won’t be destroyed by the oils inside. Alongside all of that, you get to choose how much CBD is in your bottle.

Industry Confidence

When it comes to using CBD oil, it’s important for you to be confident in the product you’re buying and the business you’re supporting. That’s why we strongly encourage you to, as we stated before, do thorough research into a company before purchasing from them.

Because CBD is a trend that has gained momentum, there are going to be a lot of companies that pop up wanting to cash in on the popularity. While there’s nothing wrong with this, you want to make sure that they’re putting in the effort to make a good product, not just selling the name of CBD.

CBD and the FDA are an important partnership. The FDA will consistently send letters to companies who are not using best practices when it comes to CBD. Before trying a new company, check the FDA’s website to be sure that they aren’t on that list. Even though the FDA doesn’t consistently create regulations for CBD companies, they still are on the lookout for safety of consumers and best practices.

Shifting Legal Landscape

While at times it feels like CBD will never be taken as seriously as other drugs or supplements in the industry, it’s popularity shows how beneficial it can be. The FDA is willing to do more regulating once they have more proof that CBD is beneficial for consumers. And, with that being said, more and more studies are being done each day.

While the FDA’s opinion on CBD won’t change overnight, the legal landscape is shifting. Hopefully soon we will be able to do more with the amazing benefits of CBD and help improve even more lives. But, in the meantime, it’s important to do as the FDA asks. That way we can protect our customers, potential customers, and company.
