CBD and Sustainability - What you Need to Know

Our earth is beautiful and home to us all. Not only does it give us somewhere to live and learn, it also provides us with essential resources to sustain our life. The unfortunate reality of our planet is that our resources are limited. That’s why it’s so important to ensure that we’re taking care of the earth like it takes care of us! Today we want to discuss sustainability with you and what we can all do to help our planet.

What is Sustainability?

Sustainability, in a nutshell, is the ability to maintain. We are now in an age of technology and advancement where we’re able to travel easier, use technology to connect with our loved ones, and grow crops out of season. But, because of the resources we use for these things, our opportunities are quickly growing limited. The earth only has so much to give, after all!

Sustainability focuses on maintaining the quality of life we have come to expect. If we were to continue to live how we do, without giving a care as to what we’re using and how much of it, it wouldn’t last forever. Maintaining this quality of life means that we’re taking care of the earth so it can continue to take care of us.

Why is it Important?

Sustainability is important for a number of reasons. The first goes back to what we explained before. We are unable to maintain our same quality of life if we’re not taking care of the planet. If the gas runs out, you won’t be able to drive anymore. No more road trips or anything! That’s where sustainability comes in.

By finding alternatives for our fossil fuels and limited resources, not only are we more likely to maintain a certain level of quality of life, we’re also doing better by our planet. Using electricity, water and air power, and solar energy puts less pollution into our air and water sources.

If we don’t treat our planet with kindness and respect, we’re ruining it for future generations. We as a human race have the opportunity to advance and do a lot of good for centuries to come. We won’t be able to do that if we don’t have a planet to live on anymore! We need to take care of the earth while we still can.

Nature’s Ultra and Sustainability

We at Nature’s Ultra care about our planet and the sustainability of our product. That’s why we’ve dedicated ourselves to using as sustainable of practices as possible! The first thing to know is that hemp, which is what CBD oil is pulled from, can actually help reduce the effects of carbon dioxide in the environment. Hemp can pull the carbon dioxide from the air, which is a large contributor to global warming, and convert it to energy. Not only that, hemp also has long, tough roots that can help hold soil together in areas that are prone to erosion.

Because hemp needs low amounts of water, is high-yield, and can be used for lots of different things, it makes it a perfect plant for helping others while also helping our planet. If you want to learn more about the sustainability of hemp, click here!

Not only is our favorite plant eco-friendly, our packaging is as well. We use high-quality glass for all of our product bottles to ensure that no more plastic is going into our ocean, and that your product is protected from the harsh elements, such as oxidation. Glass also prevents the high quality Young Living essential oils from breaking down the plastic, making the blend toxic.

You and Sustainability

Now that we’ve talked a little bit about what we’re doing to help our planet, let’s talk about what YOU can do to help! First and foremost, it’s important to remember that a lot of our carbon footprint happens behind the scenes. For example, things we order could contribute greatly to the emissions we’re putting out. A great place to start is by ensuring that the companies we order from are doing their best to practice sustainability. Look into your favorite companies and see what they’re doing to help! Rest easy knowing that companies like Nature’s Ultra are working hard to take care of the earth.

Another great thing to do, is to get reusable cups and water bottles. From there, you can get a water filter or just use what you get from the tap! Reusing the same cups over and over again will not only help you reduce your carbon footprint, it will also help you save money in the long run. A lot of places like coffee shops are willing to make your drink in a cup you bring from home. If you aren’t sure, it never hurts to ask!

Along with reusable cups, it’s a great idea to use cloth more often in your home. Instead of disposable wipes and napkins, use washcloths, dish towels, and handkerchiefs. A great option for this, is cutting up old t-shirts that you no longer wear. Even if you rarely use disposable wipes or napkins, your usage can add up fast!

If you haven’t at least tried your hand at gardening yet, why not start now? Composting is a great way to feed your garden while also making good use of your food scraps. You can even add in some of your extra cardboard to add some roughage to your compost! Egg shells, banana peels, you name it. Most of your food scraps are going to be a great addition to your garden soil. Even just flower beds if you’re not one for growing your own fruits and veggies.

Lastly, think about your usage of natural resources. When you’re washing your hands, turn the tap off while you scrub! Try to cut down the time you spend in showers, and take baths minimally. Wash your clothes in cold water. If you have a lot of appliances and technology in your house, be mindful of what you keep plugged in and for how long. Give your dryer a break and hang your clothes out to dry. Try to walk to the store or a friends house instead of driving.

There are lots of little things you can do to greatly reduce your carbon footprint! Take the time to do the research and find what changes might be best for you. You owe it to the planet to treat it with love and respect. Practicing sustainability is the only way we’re guaranteed to be around for the long haul.
